Who can afford to pay them? Did you know? If mothers were paid for the work they do everyday, they could buy Porsche 911 Carrera S every month! Believe it or not, states that a survey was conducted to 18,000 mothers in Canada to list their household chores such as cooking, cleaning, taking care of the children and family, etc. A company then described the value, price and salary for the housework of these mothers. The result was very surprising! It turned out that the ‘monthly income’ of a mother would be 125,000 Canadian dollars per month! It equals to 130,000 U.S. dollars, or 80,000 pounds, or 112 billion rupiah. Fantastic! Meanwhile, mothers who works would ‘only’ get 75,000 Canadian dollars plus salary from their workplaces.

Lena Boltos from which conducted the survey and made the calculation said, “The common misconception is that being a housewife is easier than working (for example at the office). A housewife is often illustrated as a woman who just stay at home, sit in front of TV watching Oprah and eat snacks.” She added in an interview, “A housewife has got a very big responsibility. Children today have got more hectic life (schedules) than the children in the past. Mother’s really running the home business (mother is really busy).”

Salary calculation was based on ten major works that mothers do at home and the length of time the spent to do their works each day. Calculation of high salary was due to many hours of overtime. Mothers who stay at home reported to make more than 90 hours overtime while mothers who works outside put 54.6 hours overtime.

Well, apparently the housewives could be billionaires. But it my opinion, the housework done by mothers is priceless. No price can value their sincerity and love while doing the job.
